Rose of Sharon - Summer 2010

We have two Rose of Sharon bushes in our backyard. The Rose of Sharon is the official flower of South Korea. Emily picked this plant out 7 years ago when we moved into our new home and when she liked pink!

The West Boys and Al Kaline - August 14, 2010

Scott took Jacob and Austin to see Al Kaline (former Detroit Tigers baseball player). Jacob was so excited to meet him. As you can see, my Austin wore his Cardinals shirt and hat - HA!

And no trip is complete to Illinois without visiting a Lincoln site. On this trip, we went to the old State Capitol building, where Abraham Lincoln served his last term as a State Legislator.

Achievement Day: Daughter-Dad Ice Cream Social

Tonight, July 29th, the Ward had the Achievement Day's Daughter-Dad Ice Cream Social. This is a picture of Scott and Emily. Scott is growing a beard - I think trying to look more like Toby Keith! HA!

Appa Son/Daughter Days

Each month Scott will take the kids out for a special day or trip- he calls these "Appa-Son" or Appa-Daughter" days. The kids look forward to these little outings with their Dad. The last few have sent Jacob to Cedar Pointe; Austin to the Court-Yard hotel in Utica to swim and time at Dave and Busters to play games; and Emily hiking in Oakland Twp with a stop at Dairy Queen.

July 20, 2010

It was 14 years ago today that Scott and I were married in the Washington DC Temple! ;0 The first six months were rough, but with time (and kids a scotties), things have gotten easier. Ok, the marriage part has gotten easier, life with a child with autism has not! Oh well....live wasn't meant to be easy, right?
